Neurobiologist · PhD · Montreal
I'm Monique Almeida, a neurobiologist with over a decade of experience in neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, and myelin-related disorders. I lead preclinical research end-to-end and translate complex science into clear, actionable insight — for industry, for clinicians, and for people outside the lab.
About
I'm a neurobiologist with over a decade of experience in neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, and myelin-related disorders, including multiple sclerosis (MS). I have led complex preclinical research programs from study design through execution and publication, working across academic, clinical, and industry environments.
My expertise spans scientific strategy, project leadership, research review, data interpretation, and translating complex scientific findings into clear, actionable insights.
“I'm particularly passionate about connecting science, people, and strategy to accelerate the development of better approaches for neurological and chronic diseases.”
Throughout my career, I've led multidisciplinary collaborations, built academic–industry partnerships, mentored researchers, secured and reviewed research funding, and communicated scientific findings to researchers, clinicians, industry partners, and broader audiences.
I'm now bringing this combination of scientific expertise, leadership, and communication into industry-focused roles where I can help advance innovative research and translate scientific discoveries into meaningful outcomes.

Science Communication
Alongside research, I write and record for a broader audience — explaining papers, discoveries, and concepts in a way people can follow and enjoy. This section will grow into a library as pieces are published.
Short pieces that unpack scientific papers, discoveries, and concepts so people without a scientific background can understand and enjoy them.
Brief videos explaining interesting scientific topics, or raising the questions that make people curious about how science actually works.
